Meet the Dietitian

Sodexo’s Regional Campus Dietitian Ania Egan, MS, RD, provides nutrition-related support and guidance for all students, including those with food allergies. She can assist students with navigating campus dining, which may include reviewing available resources, touring dining facilities, introductions to campus chefs, and menu planning. We encourage those with special dietary needs to connect with our dietitian, Ania Egan, MS, RD

Food Allergy, Intolerance and Medical Dietary Needs

Colby-Sawyer Dining & Hospitality understands that students with food allergies need allergen-friendly dining options they can count on, to keep them safe, help them feel included and bring value to their meal plans. We take several measures to ensure our dining staff prioritize safety for students with food allergies:

  • Our management team is AllerTrain certified for food allergy safety management.
  • All employees receive biannual allergen awareness training from our regional campus dietitian.
  • We have Simple Zone for those with food allergies, Celiac disease, gluten intolerance, and others who prefer simple food.

If you or your student has a food allergy, please reach out to our team asap so that we can schedule a meeting to discuss how we can best accommodate your allergy, and ensure our culinary team is aware of it. You can start this process either by:

Student typing on a laptop

After we receive your email, we will schedule a meeting with you to discuss dietary needs and initiate reasonable dietary accommodations. We also will work closely with CSC Access Resources to support students with dietary needs. If a student’s medical dietary needs cannot be met through daily dining offerings, additional arrangements may be considered.

Dining Menus and Allergen Labeling

Our new menus – available on our website, through our Everyday app, and in the dining hall at each station – include clear markings to show what potential allergens are included in each dish. Menus provide “contains” statements specifically highlighting the Major Nine allergens defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (milk, eggs, shellfish, fish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, sesame) and gluten. You may check for the presence of allergen-containing ingredients prior to planning meals using the online menu tool. The information is also posted on menu boards in the dining center.

Menu items are prepared using standardized recipes and food preparation procedures; however, there may be a risk of cross-contact on shared surfaces and equipment.

We ask students with food allergies and intolerances to communicate with our team so that we can help them manage their allergies. Check signage for potential allergens in products. If anything is unclear, JUST ASK! Our managers, chefs, supervisors, cooks, and employees will be happy to provide you with the information you need and have been encouraged to do so.

SimpleZone

Ware Student Center Dining Hall launched its Simple Zone, an allergen-free self-serve pantry that allows students to augment each meal. Offerings at this pantry are free of peanuts, tree nuts, gluten, and milk. Access to the pantry is included in a meal swipe, and available during dining hall hours. Simple Zone items such as breads, cereals, baked goods, and condiments have been reviewed through our product verification system to ensure it is made without gluten, milk, peanuts, and tree nuts and is produced on separate equipment, though possibly manufactured in a facility that also processes gluten, peanuts, tree nuts and milk.

We encourage those with special dietary needs to connect with our dietitian, Ania Egan, MS, RD.
